Swimmers
The Roswell Rapids Swim Team is the official competitive swim team of
the Roswell Recreation & Parks Department. The Rapids offers a
comprehensive program of instruction and training for competitive
swimming. Swimmers are divided by age and train according to their
abilities.
As a member of the Roswell Rapids, swimmers will participate in
practices and competitive league meets and have an opportunity to
qualify for the
Georgia Recreation & Parks Association’s (GRPA) State
Swim
Meet.
Ages 5-18 are eligible for the team (age on 6/1/2010). The Roswell Rec and Parks fee for 2010 is $92 for
City of Roswell residents, $138 for non-residents. 2010 Roswell Recreation & Parks Department registration for the Rapids is now available online.
The course number for the Rapids is 45030-01.
If you prefer to register in-person at the Bill Johnson Central Activities
Building (BJCAB), you may do so beginning April 12th for Roswell residents and
April 19th for non-residents
Please note that swimmers are also required to pay additional fees to our swim league (Atlanta Swim Association - ASA - $18.50 per swimmer) and the Rapids Booster Club
($30 per swimmer).
You must register with ASA online - please go to
www.atlantaswimming.com and click
on the online league registration image at the top of the page to being your
registration.
All three of these fees (City Rec and Parks Registration, ASA League Registration, and Rapids Booster Club membership) are mandatory to swim with the Rapids..
Please note that
your child does not have to try-out or be an
accomplished swimmer to join the Rapids. Our team is composed
of new, recreational and competitive swimmers. Our goal is to
make the season fun and challenging for all levels.
All Roswell Rapid swimmers participate in daily practices, and may also
take advantage of morning stroke clinics offered at no
additional cost. However, in
order to compete in our regular season swim meets, swimmers must be
able to swim the length and stroke as specified in the table below,
without assistance. Members of the Rapids Booster
Club Board and other parent referrals are available to you should you
have additional questions. Email us at info@roswellrapids.org if
you would like to speak to someone further about these requirements.

Booster Club
The Roswell Rapids Booster Club is organized by the parents to support
the swim team and requires participation by the parents of all swimmers
in order to assist with the various duties necessary to conduct swim
meets.
The Roswell Rapids Booster Club Board determines the duties and
the amount of time required of the parents. The Booster Club also
collects an additional activity fee per swimmer to cover all
meet entry fees, awards, publications and an end-of-the-year party.
This fee is separate from the Roswell Recreation & Parks
Department’s registration fee. Booster
club fee discounts for additional
swimmers in the same famly (same surname) may
be available.
The 2010 officers for Booster Club Board are listed below.
You may contact the entire board by emailing board@roswellrapids.org.

Facility
All Roswell Rapids Swim Team practices and home meets take
place at the Olympic-size Roswell Area Park Pool.
For home meets and the City of Roswell State GRPA team qualifier, the
pool utilizes eight 25-yard lanes.
The
swim team also utilizes the adjoining Bill Johnson Central Activities
Building (BJCAB) for dryland practices and shelter during inclement
weather, allowing us to practice every day of the season.
